Anthony is a pioneer in combining technology utilized to make our day-to-day simpler with eco-friendly features that are kinder to our earth. Read on for a Q&A with Anthony on everything from Dwell Development’s projects’ best sustainable features to where he thinks the future of residential construction is headed.

Q: Tell us a little bit about why you chose to become an advocate of sustainable design?
A: I have over 17 years of experience building homes in the region, and I want to ensure that our actions, practices, and work have a lasting impact—in a positive way. I’m a lifelong Seattleite so it’s important to me that I’m contributing to the place I’ve always called home in the best way I know how—by making a green city even greener.

Q: What is Built Green?
A: Built Green is a certification program that sets environmental standards for houses, apartment buildings, and communities. We’re so proud to be the only residential developer in the state exclusively building five-star Built Green homes. That means all of our projects receive five stars in categories like energy efficiency, air quality, materials, and more.

Q: What are some specific features of your projects that make them eco-friendly?
A: Our radiant floor heating and smart integrated control systems are excellent for energy efficiency. Of course, our target is net-zero energy usage, so we also install integrated solar panel systems in most of our homes. We build with reclaimed, durable materials, so our homes are built to last.

Q:  What is a sustainable building concept that you think will see more attention in 2022?
A: I see smart home systems that work in tandem with sustainable systems in homes—an all-encompassing system that does security as well as measures solar panels, etc.
